Lakan at Lakambini ng Gen San 2011

Lakan at Lakambini ng Gen San 2011

On February 23, 2011, 20 of General Santos City's most charming men and most beautiful ladies competed to win the title of Lakan at Lakambini ng Gen San 2011. After the grueling closed door casual interview with the candidates, I was excited to see them on stage at the Atrium of the Gaisano Mall of Gen San. The program was brief and enjoyable. It opened with the candidates donned in their black and white outfits, introducing themselves to the eager audience. After which, the candidates wowed the crowd with their beautiful bodies as they modeled in their swimsuit attire. They also ramped on stage wearing their casual attires sponsored by Freego Jeans. They were also given the chance to showcase their wits and communication skills as they bantered with the pageant hosts. The candidates' had their last chance to wow the crowd and the distinguished board of judges as they wore elegant Filipiana formal wear by Johnny Abad. After which, the top three Lakan candidates and Lakambini candidates were announced. The top three males were Jomie Faulda, Francis Lagudas, and Richard Nuñez, while the top three females were Dallen Baldonado, Gensan Kabatingan, and Joanna Tan. The six contender's intelligence and…

Up Close and Personal

The first time I watched the Lakan at Lakambini Pageant was 2010. Back then, I was just a spectator and my friends were the judges. Needless to say, I was impressed by the pageant and the depth of talent and grace that the candidates had. They were a fun batch of young kids I enjoyed talking to. And they were good looking too. So when my good friend, Orman Manansala master events engineer of Project O! Consultants, invited me to judge the Lakan at Lakambini ng Gen San 2011, I immediately said yes. The pageant show was going to be on February 23, 2011 and I was going to General Santos City on February 22. On February 21, 2011, I received a call from Orman asking if I would be able to make it to Gen San on February 21, 2011 for the closed door casual interview with the candidates. After re-arranging my schedule, I said yes and braced myself for an interesting afternoon with 20 of the most gorgeous and dashing youth of General Santos City. The Lakan at Lakambini ng Gen San 2011 is a beauty, talent, and personality search and 25% of the final scores of the…

Diyosa and Ganda Ever So Much

I don't remember exactly when I first heard about Orman Manansala, but I think I met him for the first time during the Avatar Media Practical Photojournalism Workshop. We didn't talk much but I remember him to be a jolly person, very personable. The second time I met him was during his visit to Davao last December 2009 which coincided with Mica Rodriguez's visit to Davao. It was during this visit that Orman invited me and the other Avatar Media members to cover and participate during the General Santos City Kalilangan Festival 2010. It was during this five day trip to General Santos City that I experienced how much of a great person Orman is. For one, he is a damn good host. Even if he was very busy as Festival Director, he managed to take very good care of us and even accompanied us to most of our trips and stops during the five day trip. Going above and beyond his duty as Festival Director and host, Orman fed us, gave us shelter, and entertained us to the hilt during those five days. He even managed to introduce us to some *ehem* boys to keep me company during my…

Kalilangan Festival in General Santos City Day 1

It wasn't actually Day 1 of the Kalilangan Festival in General Santos City. But it was our first day here. Kalilangan is General Santos City's annual foundation day headed by the General Santos City Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This year's celebration is directed by the Orman Manansala and celebrated with the theme, "Honoring the Past, Celebrating the Present, Embracing the Future." Orman and his brother, Avel Manansala, with the support of Mayor Jun Acharon, invited Davao Bloggers to join in their festivities. So yesterday, at 7 am, me, Lyle Santos, Chattee Lara, Brendel Balaga, and Angel Abella boarded a van and, with so much chatter and excitement, headed to General Santos City. Upon arrival, we immediately settled in our rooms at the Family Country Hotel. Shameful but I took up most of the closet space. :P After resting, we ate lunch at Giacomino's Pizza at Robinson's Place. I had their lasagna and their chicken wings combo meal which was more than enough for me. Then, we prepared for our judging duties and a night out. Brendel and Angel had their hair and make up done at Envy Me Salon at Robinson's Mall while Chattee and I prettified ourselves with…
