Mindanao Food Appreciation Tour Day 1

It's already May 30, 1 am, Day 2 of the epic Mindanao Food Appreciation Tour / Soccsksargen Summer Safari (MFAT). Yesterday (a few hours ago) marked a first, Day 1 of the first ever MFAT. The day started with the arrival of Cagayan de Oro Bloggers in Davao City, led by President Chiq Montes. CDO Bloggers and Davao Bloggers ate a sumptuous feast at Ranchero's Grill and Restaurant in Davao City. All thanks to the generosity of Paolo Sunglao and his family. Everybody enjoyed the cornucopia of seafoods and the very tasty and tender baby back ribs, among other dishes. It was a very filling lunch. After lunch the group traveled to General Santos City led by Davao Bloggers Project Lead Brendel Balaga. Upon their arrival they checked in at the official hotel of the event, the Ice Castle Experience where I am currently blogging from right now. It is a soon to open hotel which has really nice amenities. Aside from the free WiFi, have beautiful rooms with flat screen tv, comfortable beds, and clean bathrooms. SUPER NICE! After settling down and freshening up, the participants went to the Pacman Sports Bar owned by Manny and Jinkee Pacquiao where…

CACS Skills Batch 3 Legacy Dinner

I was lucky enough to be invited to the Legacy Dinner of Batch 3 of the Skills Course the Center for Asian Culinary Arts. Aside from getting to eat all those yummy foods they served, I hosted the event. It was a virtually fuss-free gig. :) Oh, you're more interested in the food? While waiting for the buffet to open and the other guests to arrive, I munched on a Foccacia served with Chicken Liver Pate and Confit. I'm a fan of liver pate so I thoroughly enjoyed it. The pate had a nice smooth texture and was very flavorful. The focaccia was nothing extraordinary, but it had olives in it so YEY! They served three types of salads: Ceasar's, Waldorf, and Salad ala Greca. They also had California Maki, Manhattan Maki, Tekka Maki, and Tuna Sashimi, and Salmon Sashimi. I only got to try the sashimis because well, there was just to many people lining up and they ran out of the makis. The sashimis were fresh. The tuna was kinda cold and iced, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. There were two types of pastas and two types of sauces. I had Spaghetti with the Pomodoro with Italian Sausage.…

Almost Over

One last dinner, and the first-ever Davao Food Appreciation Tour is over. I'm happy it has been successful and fun. Not to mention the stress will end. But I'm also sad coz Ate Aileen and Kuya Sweetie Jay are going back to Manila soon (not too soon though - YEY! :D ), and Avel and Mars are going back to Gen Santos. Hopefully, we have more participants next time. And of course... more food to enjoy. :)
