Can't We Be Just Friends?

Two weird incidents tonight: Again I was with J. A girl (G) approached us... G: Girlfriend mo? J and RJ: NO! And again with A... A: So you're courting RJ? J: HUH? A: Actually, I thought she was your girlfriend already. ANUH? >_< Can't a single guy and a single girl be just friends? Ya know... hang out, eat dinner together without them being more than just friends? Most of my friends are guys. You see, when I was in high school, there were only five of us girls in the classroom. And there were 22 guys. THE HELL! THE HORROR!!! It was not an all together pleasurable experience but it shaped who I am today. And today, most of my friends are guys because most of my interests are things guys are interested in. For one, I love fantasy, action, sci-fi movies and other stuff (not Star Trek though). I can quote lines from Lord of the Rings, the Star Wars Trilogy, and the X-Men Trilogy. "Why do you ask questions to which you already know the answer?" Then, of course, most of the people I hang out nowadays are guys I met through DotA. All of them, save…

DoTA Boys and Their Emo Status Messages

One of the groups in my Yahoo Messenger is composed of guys I met through DoTA. These people are clumped under the group "dota boys." Most of the time, a lot of these guys are online. And I usually get a kick out of reading their very much emo status messages. Tonight I screencapped my YM to capture some of these emo messages. Look above... One says "It takes a lot of love." Another says "u made it clear when you said I just don't love you no more." LOL! Whoever said that guys are not emotional must not have met these DoTA boys. I'll try to capture more of these emo status messages in the future. ;)

Look At What Sequel Sta Ana Gave Me

For more than two weeks now, this bruise on my left upper arm have been eliciting questions regarding my non-existent girlfriend-beating boyfriend. The truth is... it's a product of a combination of sheer stupidity and anger. I was angrily getting out of Sequel Sta Ana when I opened the swinging door and it closed the handle hitting my arm in the process. Huhu! Masakit yun ha... Here's another look:

Ria At Play! Chachaaan! My goal is actually to make it a community blog for local gamers. But since no one has expressed interest in joining me, it's just going to be me for now. So bear with me while I obssess about DoTA, tournaments, heroes, items, line ups, teams, match-ups and other related things and events.

Is Professional Gaming Possible in Davao City?

The Davao Cyber Expo 2007: Davao Cyber Games DoTA Championships (DCE-DCG) held last July 4, 5, and 6, 2007 at the NCCC Mall of Davao City was indeed a big success but marred by much problems and controversy. Organizers Kitsi Avila, Lester Avila and TJ (?) of E2 Events conceptualized the event to raise the level of gaming in the city to a professional one. Although the event may be considered as a success, it still begs the answer to the question that started it all: "Is professional gaming possible in Davao City?" I do not claim to be a veteran gamer, but I believe I can provide more than my two cents worth to this issue. Dictionary.com lists the following definitions of a professional: following an occupation as a means of livelihood or for gain following as a business an occupation ordinarily engaged in as a pastime a person who earns a living in a sport or other occupation frequently engaged in by amateurs While it is laudable that the organizers provided a DoTA Constitution for the players, I question why it was authored by a player who was actively participating in the tournament, and affiliated with more than…
