Julie and Julia… and Me

Just came from watching Julie & Julia, based on the book with the same title by Julie Powell. Needless to say, I love it. It's not about cooking and baking. But love and passion. I can so totally relate to the movie... with cooking, baking, and blogging all in one movie. But I'm sure a lot of people will also love it and can relate to it. Both Julia Child (Meryl Streep) and Julie Powell (Amy Adams) both dedicated themselves to cooking not for the sake of cooking, but because of love. They were both passionate about different things. While focused on different things, their passions brought them to food and cooking. I share their passion. Passion to cook and bake, to serve the best there is to the people who matter to me. I've been told (more than once, sad to say) that I am addicted to baking and cooking. And I am. I am addicted to making the delicious pastries and meals. And I am passionate about writing and blogging, as well. And I was able to relate to Julie saying that she might have ADD. Coz I feel like I am like that sometimes. Interested and wanting…

Globe One Youth Headshot Clinic Davao

Months ago, I went to the Globe One Youth Headshot Clinic here in Davao City. And few days ago, the photos from the clinic were published... I went with my cousins, Kuya Andrew and Gwing, and Chattee. Here are their headshots... Hmmm... I think Kuya Andrew has the fiercest headshot. Chattee and Gwing both have nice usable ones. Mine seems... perky? Nice though. Wish I had skin as smooth and silky as the one on the photo. :P

Blog Action Day 2009: Climate Change

It's the first I decided to actually join Blog Action Day. It's a topic that is close to my heart and I hope you all find the time to read it over at Alleba Politics. Climate change is a reality that few government officials, politicians, people in general fail to see. Every day our environment is changing, and with it our way of life. The air we breathe, the water we drink, the food that we consume, the materials we use for our daily lives change in small amounts. But these small amounts add up, accumulate every day that passes by. More alarming is how our climate has been changing without us noticing any of it. Here is the link to my ENTRY.

It Was a Good Night

I had a feeling it was not gonna be perfect but that it was gonna be a good one. And I was right! CACS Davao Skills Batch 9: Cucina Nueve's Legacy Buffet was a good one. ;-) We were a bit harried and chaotic during the few hours from closing the kitchen and transferring the food to Linmarr Apartelle, but everything before and after that was done well. Not perfect but more than good enough. The food was on time, save for the last minute preparations and presentation of the sashimi and maki. (Apologies to my groupmates coz I wasn't able to fully help out with the Cold Kitchen.) And everything looked delicious. There were some kinks here and there but there weren't a lot of complaints regarding the food. Must commend the yummy Waldorf Salad, the superb Chicken Florentine, the tasty Roast Beef and the sinful pastry spread. TWO THUMBS UP! Kasali pati big toes!!! The program was not boring (I hope) and the tarpaulins and videos I made were nice. And the music we played were good enough for the lulls. What made the dinner really beautiful was the very, very, very elegant and bonggang-bonggang set-up by Sul…

Bloggers' Choice Special Award

Hi there readers! Yes, it's me, the one and only Diyosa Maria "Ria" A. Jose. I am expressing my intent to join the Philippine Blog Awards 2009 Bloggers' Choice Special Award (NATIONAL ). Why? Because I want to. It's a special award that involves bloggers voting their choice of blogger who will get the award. Last year my special friend slash fake boyfriend Chairell Winston "Batang Yagit" Almendras, won the award. I believe I can win it this year. Libre naman mangarap diba? I have been blogging for a long time, and have been maintaining a lot of bloggers. Last year, I had 12 nominations but didn't win anything. Guess I'm one of the better bloggers but not the best at any of my niches. LOL! So this year, I'm gunning for the Bloggers' Choice Award. I am joining using this blog, but also in behalf of the more than 10 other blogs I own, maintain, and manage. Nananawagan po ako sa lahat ng aking mga kamag-anak (there's at least 3 of you who blog), kaibigan (ang dami niyo promise), taga-hanga (sana meron kahit isa), at kung sinu-sino pang mga bloggers na maaaring bumoto sa akin, suportahan at iboto niyo…
