Me at the Eraserheads Concert

I remember listening and singing to Toyang a dozen times a day when I was in Grade 5. In Grade 6, I memorized “Pare Ko” by heart, and even watched the movie based on the song. LULZ!

My favorite Eraserheads songs were With a Smile, Huling El Bimbo, and Fruitcake. Huling El Bimbo became popular as me and my first year classmates in 1 – Pearl of PSHS-MC were about to part ways. Fruitcake, on the other hand, became popular during the Christmas season during my second year. I remember my classmates Rhoda and Kimberley giving me a Fruitcake cassette as a Christmas gift.

I was a fan. Not a total fanatic, but I loved them nonetheless. When news about their reunion concert spread, I never expected that I would be able to watch it. It just so happened I am in Manila for work. But then I really didn’t have the P800 for the tickets. But one day before the concert, Poyty sent me an SMS informing me that Red Horse through Juned and Markku was giving away tickets to bloggers. Eraserheads. Reunion. FOR FREE! How could I say no?!

So there I was 4 pm at Fully Booked at the Bonifacio High Street waiting for other bloggers. Around 8 pm, we entered the Patron area, donning our Red Horse shirts, them armed with their camera phones, me with my point and shoot. (They thought even point and shoot cams were banned.)

It was the best! Amidst people singing along to the lyrics of the songs they grew up, and reminiscing their grade school, high school, and college days… I was taken back to the best times of my life: high school. At the same time, I enjoyed the company I was with sooo much! It was not a bloggers’ event, but I had a blast with the bloggers.

Here’s a video of the lyrics fail by the audience (including the bloggers) of Fruitcake:

The audience sang “A little lovin’ and some fruit to bake” instead of “There’s some brandy and star margarine to make it bright.” Hehe…

Thank you to the Eraserheads for this unforgettable experience!
Thank you to Red Horse, SMB, Juned, and Markku!

  1. Agree with Poyt: LyricsFAIL but I still enjoyed it (even if I only know three or four out of fifteen songs. Shameful, I know.)
