It Took a Village

…to make this happen!

It’s no secret that I’m a big sissy who is super afraid of heights. And I am definitely not an adventurous girl. So when it was my turn to ride the Outland Adventure Xcelerator last January, I begged off as I was too scared to go to the edge of the jump off point. SAD! But I promised my buddies Kuya Andrew, Blogie, and Winston that I will do it during the Davao FAT 2009.

And so March 14 came… judgment day. I went to Outland Adventure again, this time with more than 20 other bloggers… from Davao City, Manila, General Santos, and Cagayan de Oro. Chickening out for the second time was not an option anymore. Would have been too embarrassing. 🙁

So there I was with the harness strapped on, walked the almost kilometer trek with my friends, and one by one my companions had the thrill of their lives. Some shrieked (*ehem* Mr. RP!), some were calm, some were more daring than others (HANA!). When it was my turn, there were only three from our group who were left with me: Jeff, Chattee, and Fritz. (The four of us were the only ones left in the other bundok who didn’t witness the sweetest proposal ever between the sweeties.)

Even before it was my turn, I already started convincing the staff to push me, even if I cried. And they told me “Yan ha, kahit na anong mangyari, itutulak ka namin.” Unlike the last time, I didn’t start freaking out the moment I stepped on the ledge. I was very calm… but when the staff attached me to the zipline, I started panicking.

Instead of having me walk to and sit on the edge of the zipline, the staff let me go on a sitting position while Chattee helped me hold up my feet, and Fritz and Jeff were calming me down while helping the staff push me off the ledge.

And they did push me off despite protestations, LOL! It was an exhilarating ride which I will probably never take again. The view is great and the feeling was so… free. I didn’t enjoy it entirely because well I was sooo scared. But it was an experience worth having. 🙂

Thank to the village people who encouraged me and held my hand through the experience. NAKS! EMOTERA SI RIA! 😛
