12 Blog Post Prompts for 2020

Happy Holidays! Now that I’m done with my Level Up series, it’s time to share some ideas for your blog posts. And just in time, too, because I am also currently drafting my 2020 Content Plan. So here is another holiday gift: 12 Blog Post Prompts you can use for 2020. Plus, 36 blog post ideas. If you are managing any social media accounts, you can also use these prompts.

Why 12? There are 12 months and the post prompts will hopefully inspire you to create content at least once a month, as I plan to do. However, you may use one prompt more than once.

Each one prompt is just one word. And you can use the word and the accompanying image as your post title and header or just as an inspiration. Every one is a theme that can be used or inspire so many posts: for you blog, for your video channel, for your social media posts… for practically any platform. Online or offline.

I crafted each theme with a month in mind. So the first one is specifically crafted with January and New Year in mind. The second one is for February and Valentine’s. So on and so forth. But each theme is not so specific that you could not use it after the designated month. I have provided an explanation for each theme. So you can use the first theme for the middle of the year. Anytime it inspires you.

You may follow the order of the prompts and create a post for that month. Or not. Really it’s basically 12 themes you can use anytime. And as a bonus I have listed 3 post ideas per theme to nudge you further.

Blog Post Prompts for 2020

Here is the list of 12 themes for your blog posts, videos, and social media posts that you can use for 2020:

  • 1
  • Red
  • Queen
  • Sun
  • Fate
  • Sweet
  • Rain
  • Color
  • New
  • Self
  • Kind
  • Star

1

It might sound cliche, boring, or too obvious… well it is. The first theme is ONE.

Blog Post Prompts: One
ONE

I got this inspiration from hitRecord on TV. One sounds so simple and specific but it can actually mean so many things. One can mean alone. Or first. It can mean the best or the worst. The peak or the lowest. Your favorite or the only one. Whatever it means to you, share it through a post.

ONE Blog Post Ideas

Red

And for blog post prompt number 2, let’s get red.

Blog Post Idea: Red
RED

Another obvious theme because February means Valentine’s for most people. So go on, create content about love, Valentine’s, and such. Or not. Do an anti-Valentine’s post. I have one planned. *wink*

And on most years, we also celebrate Lunar New Year in February. This year it’s on January 25, though.

But “Red” can also mean different things. Fire. Hot and spicy. Roast and grill. Passion. Blood. Stop.

Alternatively, you can just substitute your favorite color and use that as a theme.

Queen

March is Women’s History Month. And March 8 is International Women’s Day. It is time to celebrate the queens in our life.

Sun

Usher in summer with a celebration of the sun.

Blog Post Ideas: Sun
SUN

I do not necessarily consider the sun as my friend. I hate the heat. But it provides a wealth of ideas that can last you way beyond summer time. Post ways to revel in the sun. Or suggest ways on how people can protect themselves from it. Either way, you have something to post.

Fate

And this one… it’s not so obvious.

Fate and May Day Eve
FATE

While brainstorming for the month of May I remembered Nick Joaquin‘s May Day Eve and how the female protagonist was preoccupied with knowing whom she would be destined to marry.

Do you believe in fate and destiny? Or do you believe that life is what you make of it and that you carve your own path? Whatever you believe in, you can definitely post about it.

Sweet is not just a flavor to taste. It can also be seen in pink and pastels. Or felt in gestures to our loved ones. Sweet can also be a smell.

RAIN

Like the sun, the rain can be your friend or your foe. Personally, I love the rain. So yes, I can think of sooo many ideas. Travel. Food. Makeup and style. Tech. I will probably not get tired of this theme.

Me

October is Mental Health Month and October 10 is World Mental Health Day. So this month, focus on you.

Blogs, as I have said over and over again are personal enterprises. The blogger matters as much as the content generated. So never forget to make your content centered on you and all things that you are about. Not all posts should be about you but your views, perspective, and insights should always be there. But this month, go the extra mile and create content that take care of you.

And while you’re at it, clean up. Shape up. And update your About Me Page or customize your video channel page.

Post Ideas to celebrate ME:

  • My Must-Have Closet Items

November 13 is World Kindness Day. And what better way to spend it than to make people smile?

Posts to make you SMILE

It always pays to be kind. No need to buy anything, just be kind, respectful, and considerate. Empathize. Give the gift of time and attention. Put a smile on your family and friends. Or to your workmates or even strangers. Most of all, do not forget to celebrate what makes you smile.

November is also the month of the biggest sale this part of the world. The 11.11 Sale can also be a great topic to generate post ideas from.

Star

Undeniably, the last month of the year is all about the holidays.

STAR

The holidays, both Christmas and New Year and other December holidays provide a wealth of content that you can create. It can, however, get hectic and overwhelming. So prepare your end of year and holiday posts early.

On this month, focus on Star. Whatever that means to you, write about. Talk about it. Vlog about it. Share about it. You can focus on what your 2020 has been all about. Or the best things in 2020 that stood out for you. Or you can share OOTD or makeup looks that sparkle and shine.
