The Junior Chamber International Philippines (JCIP) kicked off its 2013 Liter of Light Project in Davao City on December 29, 2012 at Barangay 21-C, Piapi. 2013 Liter of Light National Chair JCI Mem Anna Lim-Santiago demonstrates the making of a Liter of Light The Liter of Light project began in 2011 when the JCIP, led by 2011 National President JCI Senator Bernard Dy, became a partner of the My Shelter Foundation headed by JCI Mem Iliac Diaz. In 2013, My Shelter Foundation and JCIP aim to implement the Liter of Light Project in at least 100 cities and 10,000 households in the Philippines. It is the hope of 2013 National Chairman JCI Member Anna Lim-Santiago that this will be done through the efforts of JCI local organizations (LOs) throughout the Philippines. PSA: The Aboitiz Group calls for donations for areas affected by typhoon Pablo

The following is a Public Service Announcement in behalf of the Aboitiz Group: The Aboitiz Group, led by the Aboitiz Foundation, is now accepting donations for areas in Mindanao that have been badly hit by Pablo. After the damage left by the typhoon, it is estimated that thousands of families in various Mindanao localities to include New Bataan, Compostela Valley, Bukidnon, Iligan, and Davao, and in Visayas, specifically Negros and Dumaguete, are still in need of help. As of today, the Aboitiz Group has given over P5.5 million worth in assistance to an estimated 10,000 families in the said areas, P2 million of which came from the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (RAFI), and P1 million from UnionBank of the Philippines. More than half of the total funds have been channeled for relief operations in ComVal, which experienced the most devastation. For the donations that will be raised, the Aboitiz Group will prepare a mix of ready to eat canned goods, water, bread and biscuits, personal effect like towels, blankets, and underwear, as well cooking ware. 100 Days Project: Share your Light
This year, I am bound to celebrate my birthday in another unconventional manner. Our chapter, JCI Davaoena Daba Daba has been appointed as the lead chapter for JCI Philippines in the 2012 implementation of the "Liter of Light" project. The "Liter of Light" project aims to provide a cost-effective, ecologically sustainable daytime light source for the urban and rural poor communities. Business Cards
There was a time when I didn't like bringing calling cards (or business cards) to events and meet ups. I tried to avoid giving away my contact information to random people to avoid being contacted by annoying or stalker-y people. But I have realized that having a business card handy is advisable for people who freelance like me, or who like networking with a lot of people. After all, I get a lot of opportunities just by giving away my card and making that distinct impression on people when I give away my card. My new set of calling cards is by April of Artisan Design Studio. I had her print a two-sided card for me. On one side are my credentials as a member of Junior Chamber International Davaoeña Daba Daba along with my relevant contact information, my photo, and our organization's website. On the “National” Bloggers Association
This is my personal statement regarding the formation and organization of the supposed "National Bloggers Association." This is not the formal statement or position of the Mindanao New Media Group nor of the Davao Bloggers Group. About a week ago, I was informed of the existence of a "Bloggers' Manifesto" that was forwarded to a selected group of bloggers. After asking around, I was forwarded the manifesto which was tagged as "Not for circulation." After the manifesto, there was a solicitation for feedback. The manifesto was forwarded to bloggers by Tonyo Cruz. In the email, there was no mention of who the authors of the draft manifesto are and who the convenors of the National Bloggers Association are. Since it was supposedly a manifesto supporting the formation of a "National Bloggers Association," I immediately consulted the officers of several bloggers' groups in Visayas and Mindanao. I consulted them the same day I was forwarded a copy of the manifesto. That was March 2. Of the twenty persons I consulted, only 2 of them have received a copy of the manifesto. State of the Philippine Blogosphere
The last of the major blogging events for this year was the BlogFest Soccsksargen held at General Santos City on December 11, 2010. It was successfully organized by the Sox Bloggers in only 3 weeks. Avel Manansala gave me the task of opening the BlogFest with a talk on the "State of the Philippine Blogosphere." I had a hard time gathering my thoughts and inputs while I made my presentation. I depended on Ratified data and the input of many Filipino bloggers before I finalized my talk.
