Dieting Notes

I am a food. I love food so much I can watch the Lifestyle Network Channel for hours. I can even watch a Food show episode over and over again and still find it interesting. I LOVE FOOD! But my quest for a better wardrobe and boy(S) is now forcing me to diet. Week one was quite a success, mostly because I kept my wallet in a poor state and I stayed away from my cousin who also loves food. Week 2, however, was one big monumental legendary epic fail. I pigged out! A LOT! :( I am now on week 3 and day one, yesterday was quite a success. Today is day 2, and I have been good in eating much less rice. I'm now down to a quarter cup of rice per meal. I only eat two full meals per day. And I don't snack as much anymore. I just came from the grocery and bought two snacking substitutes: Chocolate Milk instead of chocolate bars and candies, and corn flakes instead of chips. Good thing I also like those two things or I wouldn't survive. I have also lessened my coffee intake and is now drinking tea more.…

Dear Nescafe

Dear Nescafe, There's no doubt I like your coffee. In fact, I am in love with your Nescafe Classic First Pick, I bought bottles to last me a year so I could have it even during the months when First Pick isn't available on the grocery shelves anymore. But why is it your flavored coffees, even the supposedly healthy ones only come in three-in-one sachets? Fine, I could take a some sugar and cream in my coffee occasionally. But why is it those packs contain more sugar than actual coffee? They're too sweet. I'm pointing out these four that I tried: Nescafe Body Partner Lingzhi Nescafe Body Partner Fit Nescafe 3-in-1 Hazelnutz Nescafe 3-in-1 Choco Fudge I love my coffee bitter and dark. But I also want it healthy and flavored sometimes, but never too sweet. Here's my suggestion: lessen the sugar in your 3-in-1 packs. Those who want their coffee sweet can pour extra sugar if they want, right? But us who want dark can't take out the excess sugar. :( I hope that at least the Body Fit coffee sachets do away with the sugar, or less of it. Love lots, Ria :D

A Visit to Museo Dabawenyo

Kuya Andrew, Migs, Dom, and I met up this afternoon to visit Museo Dabawenyo. It has been formally inaugurated but i has been open to the public for quite some time. The first floor is home to Indigenous Peoples' Gallery and the Moro Peoples' Gallery where artifacts and photos of the 5 Davao tribes are showcased. It also showcased the colorful arts, culture, and way of living of the people of Davao. The Moro Peoples' gallery was set against a nice mural by the Fine Arts students of a local college. The mural shows an idyllic beach side community in Davao. In the second floor is the Memorabilia Gallery which houses artifacts and information from various points of Davao City's history. My favorite part of the museum was the Nanay Soling Duterte Hall Modern Art Gallery. It contained interesting pieces of art that portrayed the different facets of Davao life and celebrated the tri-people culture of Davao. Tri-people pertains to the three groups of DavaoeƱos which have been living and working harmoniously: the Indigenous Peoples, the Christians, and the Muslims. The Ford GT

I don't drive... errr... but I went to the GoodYear Media Forum coz I was once an F1 fan and I used to cover and help organize drag races and car shows. PLUS, A FORD GT WOULD BE ON DISPLAY! And there it was... unveiled before our very eyes, on the Ballroom of the Marco Polo hotel, a Ford GT (one of only 2,00pimped with a set of GoodYear tires, only 14 inches from the ground... Healthy Tuna Recipe

(without photos) Here's a simple Tuna Recipe for those who are on a diet. This is dedicated to my friend Poyt Ingredients: 1 can tuna in water (NOT BRINE or oil, drain) half a can of mushrooms half a clove of medium-sized garlic, chopped 5 - 10 basil leaves, chpped (depending on how much you love basil) 1 Tbsp Japanese soy sauce 1 tsp Balsamic Vinegar Salt and Pepper Olive Oil Procedure: Heat some olive oil in a sauce over medium heat. Saute the garlic. Do not burn or toast. Add the mushrooms and saute. Add the tuna. Saute. Season with the soy sauce and vinegar. Cook for 5 - 10 minutes while occasionally stirring. Add more soy say and vinegar if necessary. Season with salt and pepper. Transfer to serving plate. Some notes: This recipe does not work with other types of vinegar. Fresh basil is preferred over dried basil. Extra virgin olive oil is healthier than Virgin Olive Oil. Japanese soy sauce is Kikoman. :P Tbsp = Tablespoon; tsp = teaspoon; 3 tsps = 1 Tbsp Happy dieting eating! :)

Halo-Halo

Halo-halo is a Filipino dessert concoction composed of various preserved fruits, and other sweet ingredients topped with crushed ice, milk, and ice cream. The ice cream flavor is usually ube (yam). Ever since a crushed ice store opened near our subdivision, my aunts would include a make your own halo-halo station in our family gatherings. There was one during our Fathers' Day dinner. I had Sweetened Bananas, Kaong, Nata de Coco, Langka, Ube, and Sago in mine. I topped it with liberal amounts of corn flakes, some crushed ice, evaporated milk, and one scoop of ube ice cream. My other cousins had their own variations... Why did I blog about this? Coz it's hot today and I want some halo-halo again!!!
