Valentine's Date

Inspired by Ate Aileen and Kuya Jay's love story, I asked myself, have I ever had a Valentine's date? And the answer was a big no. OUCH! But some very interesting things happened to me in past Valentine's Days. We used to spent it in school for Teachers' Day, right? I think I received one or two flowers during those days. When I was in Fourth Year High School, we had PMT (CAT) Graduation practice on February 14, 1999. On that day, I received news that I passed the Ateneo College Entrance Test and I was Freshman Merit Scholar. Good news, right? It was also the day that a "suitor" of mine and I had a nice heartfelt talk where he gave me roses and I realized, I didn't like him much to commit to him. In college, I would usually spend Valentine's Day alone or eating out with cousins. In 2008, I spent it with my cousins and aunts. It was me and the rest of us singles eating a lot of steak and seafoods. YUM! Of the four of us present that day, only Kuya Andrew and I remain single. LOL! I wasn't technically single that time, but…

10 for 2010

In solidarity with my colleagues at Avatar Media, here's my list of ten things I want to accomplish in 2010: Wear a tankini. Which implies I must lose weight and stay fit and healthy. I hope to accomplish this by May 2, 2010, the date of a planned island tour. Buy a netbook. Save money. Budget efficiently. Do not create a new blog. I already have too many blogs on my own and I have several others that I am maintaining. I need to focus more in maintaining the ones I currently have. Read 5 books. Last year, I spent most of the year just re-reading books I have already read. Must read more. Attend dance classes. Last year, I made a goal of attending culinary classes and I would like to think that was a major success. This year, I want to re-kindle my love for dancing, learn new skills, and stay fit. Travel around Mindanao. Must visit at least 3 places. I want to travel but don't have much budget. Plus, I think Mindanao is a really great place to explore. Organize at least 4 events. The Davao Bloggers and the Avatar Media Team both have a lot…

Seven Things to Do When You’re In a Relationship

...with Kim Sam Soon :) I have been obsessing over the Korean Drama "My Name is Kim Sam Soon." I already liked it when I was able to watch a few episodes when it aired on the local channel GMA 7. But I wasn't able to watch everything. Thanks to the magic of the internet and my Kdrama expert friend Brendel, I am now watching the complete series, with two episodes to go. I am loving every moment of it, except the scenes with Yoo Hee Jin and Doctor Henry Kim. Pft! Otherwise, I love it. <3 In Episode 14, Kim Sam Soon and Sam Shik finally dates, FOR REAL! And Sam Soon tells Sam Shik they should do seven things as a couple. Here's her list... #7 Shopping while holding hands. #6 Photo of Sam Soon's boyfriend on her phone. #5 Take a train ride while drinking beer on the way to Pusan. #4 Say "I love you Kim Hee Jin*" in front of everyone. #3 Get intimate while watching a horror movie. #2 Get couple rings. #1 Introduce each other to their parents as each other's boyfriend/girlfriend. *At this point of the Kdrama, Sam Soon changed her name…

GOAL: Wear a Bikini

I have a new goal this year. Wear a bikini during the summer. Well, it's easy to do that, actually. I just have a to buy a bikini and wear it. But the hidden goal there is to lose weight and be gorgeous while wearing the bikini. LOL! Realistically, I can never look good in a bikini as I have fugly stretchmarks from my pregnancy. Kidding! I have it from the constant weight gain and weight loss I've had since high school. So I will actually wear a tankini, something like this. So yeah, I'll try to eat well and stay healthy until that day on Summer 2010 when the shores of Samal, Davao and the fab (and lucky) people of Davao will witness me and my body in a tankini. Wish me luck! ;-)

Starting the New Year

I began the new year with this status message on my Facebook: Happy New Year! May 2010 be kinder, more fruitful, and more productive for all those who deserve it. A toast to beauty, truth, happiness, peace, and love! May we all get what we deserve. ♥ But here's how I really spent the last days of 2009 and first days of 2010... I was frantically busy in the kitchen cooking and baking stuff for my family and friends, most challenging of which was preparing the Noche Buena for the Abellas. Main dish was steak, served with a cheese platter, sashimi, mashed potatoes, gravy, and blue cheese sauce. I also prepared my famous beef stew and tiramisu for the Joses. And the pastry kitchen? I spent hell in it for four days... brownies, cheesecakes, chocolate cakes, OH MY! I also spent a lot of time with my classmates. Both my high school and grade school batchmates had 10 year shindig things. I was able to attend my grade school batchmates' party. I was able to re-connect with a lot of old friends. Had a fun time reminiscing. But I missed our HS batch's grand thing at Eden. I was too…
