Podcast 5: Why Geeks Make Good Lovers

Since high school, I have already been surrounded by geeks. Went to a geeky high school. Took up a geeky course in college. Now working with geeky people in a very geeky industry. I do find geeks attractive. Even as a kid, I wanted to meet and date a guy with an IQ higher than mine. And I find smart guys fascinating, engaging, and interesting. I recently blogged that I am attracted to lawyers and engineers because I find them to be smart and geeky enough for me. But what exactly makes geeks good lovers? Do other people also find them attractive? I turned to two blog posts from Awkward Things I Say to Girls and from Wired by Regina Lynn as references to discuss why geeks would make good lovers. (The audio at the start of the podcast is weird for I don't know what reason but it gets better at around 3:00. Apologies.) You may download at this LINK. The topic is courtesy of my high school batchmate, Mae Cabahug, MD with input from a Plurk friend. I hope you found it as interesting as I did. It's a bit longer than my past podcasts though. Reactions, suggestions,…

Podcast 2: Open Relationships

By request from Mica Rodriguez, I made a podcast on Open Relationships. I also got some questions and subtopics from two Plurk threads that I started. I am by no means a relationship expert nor a graduate of any course that will make me a credible source of information or opinion on the matter. These are just my views and opinion based on my experiences and observations. You might find some value in it. Listen... Download this episode at this link. Helpful? Or not! Comment. Suggest. Share your opinions. Links: Wikipedia: Open Relationships Wikipedia: Open Source Plurk Threads: Link 1, Link 2 This is another test podcast. Humor me while I prepare for better podcasts. If you have any topic suggestions, comments, and opinions, please share them on the comments box.

Valentine's Day

I will probably love this movie... The song and the trailer are enough to make me love the movie. I know... I'm mababaw. I enjoy watching romantic movies. Plus there's Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Alba, Patrick Dempsey, Jamie Foxx, and Ashton Kutcher. And is that Mc Steamy? OH YEAH! :) And I see mah love Topher Grace and the diva Queen Latifah in the credits. <3 "Love is the only shocking act left on the planet." LOVE THAT LINE! And no, Jessica Biel's character... it's not our fault we're alone on Valentine's Day. See you at the cinema! :)

Valentine's Date

Inspired by Ate Aileen and Kuya Jay's love story, I asked myself, have I ever had a Valentine's date? And the answer was a big no. OUCH! But some very interesting things happened to me in past Valentine's Days. We used to spent it in school for Teachers' Day, right? I think I received one or two flowers during those days. When I was in Fourth Year High School, we had PMT (CAT) Graduation practice on February 14, 1999. On that day, I received news that I passed the Ateneo College Entrance Test and I was Freshman Merit Scholar. Good news, right? It was also the day that a "suitor" of mine and I had a nice heartfelt talk where he gave me roses and I realized, I didn't like him much to commit to him. In college, I would usually spend Valentine's Day alone or eating out with cousins. In 2008, I spent it with my cousins and aunts. It was me and the rest of us singles eating a lot of steak and seafoods. YUM! Of the four of us present that day, only Kuya Andrew and I remain single. LOL! I wasn't technically single that time, but…

Starting the New Year

I began the new year with this status message on my Facebook: Happy New Year! May 2010 be kinder, more fruitful, and more productive for all those who deserve it. A toast to beauty, truth, happiness, peace, and love! May we all get what we deserve. ♥ But here's how I really spent the last days of 2009 and first days of 2010... I was frantically busy in the kitchen cooking and baking stuff for my family and friends, most challenging of which was preparing the Noche Buena for the Abellas. Main dish was steak, served with a cheese platter, sashimi, mashed potatoes, gravy, and blue cheese sauce. I also prepared my famous beef stew and tiramisu for the Joses. And the pastry kitchen? I spent hell in it for four days... brownies, cheesecakes, chocolate cakes, OH MY! I also spent a lot of time with my classmates. Both my high school and grade school batchmates had 10 year shindig things. I was able to attend my grade school batchmates' party. I was able to re-connect with a lot of old friends. Had a fun time reminiscing. But I missed our HS batch's grand thing at Eden. I was too…

Miss Statement

Dahil ako na... ang mahilig mag-emote and mag-drama with my boys, boylets, exes, and other eklavu. At dahil gusto kong talbugan sina Catherine, Scarlet, Isadora, at ang bonggang-bonggang sina Madam Claudia Buenavista at Amor Powers, here are some of the lines I have uttered IN REAL LIFE in the recent past... Boy: I'm sorry, I can't take this kind of drama. Ria: I hope you won't regret letting me go. Ria: What do you want? Do you want me turn back time so you'd meet me first? Because I would if I could. Boy: I'm really sorry. Ria: Madali lang naman akong kausap. You don't want me enough? I'll move on the next guy. Boy: Good night! Ria: Is it presumptuous to think you like me? Coz I know you do. Boy:... Boy: I'm turned off by aggressive girls. Ria: Sorry naman. Pinanganak akong ganito. I can't let things happen to me, I make them happen. Ria: I know you like me. Break up with your girlfriend and I'll instantly be your girlfriend. Boy: I'm sorry I can't let her go. Ria: You want to continue dating her? Ok. You can have her, but I'll also have my other boys.…
